Check the phone's active media output while the same programme plays. A paired Bluetooth device can remain the audio destination after the headphones have been put away, depending on their connection state.

Why this happens
Media output can differ from ringtone or notification output. Hearing a system sound does not prove programme audio is routed to the phone speaker.
Work through the steps
- Confirm programme volume is raised.
- Open the phone's available media-output selector.
- Select the intended speaker or headphones.
- Disconnect the unwanted Bluetooth device and replay the source.
What to avoid
Keep volume low when switching outputs. Use the phone manufacturer's guide because output menus differ by model.
Know what changed
The programme should become audible on the selected output. If only this player remains silent, compare another source and its available audio tracks.
