Check the player and tvOS versions separately. A system update can complete while the installed player remains unchanged; the App Store controls app updates. Record both versions before testing a reported player fix.

Why this happens
System software and third-party apps have separate release channels. A working update screen does not prove the player includes the required fix.
Work through the steps
- Record the current player version if shown.
- Check the player's App Store listing for an update.
- Review tvOS software-update status in Settings.
- Reopen the updated player and repeat the failing action.
What to avoid
Keep Apple TV powered during system updates. Do not assume deleting an app preserves its saved playlist or activation.
Know what changed
Confirm which version actually changed. A useful result identifies whether the same action improved after the app update, system update, or neither.
