Use only the keyboard to test navigation, visible focus, playback, track selection and exit from full screen. Note where focus becomes unclear or trapped. Follow documented shortcuts instead of assuming universal keys. Mouse success does not establish keyboard usability, and one working play shortcut does not complete the test. A useful result covers the viewer’s whole task, including returning to a known place after playback or an unexpected screen.

Why it matters
A visible control may still be difficult to reach or identify by keyboard. Recording the sequence to a barrier gives the publisher a reproducible case. It also distinguishes missing access from an unfamiliar but documented command, without promising that every desktop player uses the same interaction model.
Work through the steps
- Begin at the normal entry point without a mouse.
- Follow focus through essential controls.
- Test tracks and full-screen exit.
- Record the exact blocked sequence.
What to avoid
Do not infer access from one shortcut or recommend undocumented keys universally. A key may trigger a different action in another app. Test the complete path and preserve exact product and version information.
The useful takeaway
Check the whole task, not only playback. Reachable controls and visible focus matter alongside shortcuts, and precise sequences make reports useful to the software publisher.
