Identify the sender app and receiver type first. A legacy Chromecast does not expose an Android player settings page; if the player runs on an Android phone, any documented app-cache action belongs on that phone.

Why this happens
A Cast setup has more than one component. Clearing the wrong device's data can erase setup without addressing the sender's failing app.
Work through the steps
- Identify where the player is actually installed.
- Check the sender platform's app troubleshooting guidance.
- Use a documented cache-only action only if that platform offers it.
- Retest local playback and then Cast separately.
What to avoid
iPhone does not offer a universal Android-style per-app Clear Cache button. Do not factory reset Chromecast merely to imitate one.
Know what changed
The result should show whether the sender app improved locally and whether casting improved separately. Preserve credentials before any broader app-data operation.
