Google TV player stays offline after replacing the router

Practical steps, clear explanations and a useful place to start.

Reconnect the Google TV device to the new router before re-entering the streaming account. A remembered old network or changed password can leave an app offline even when its login details are still correct.

Why this happens

Internet connectivity is a prerequisite for the player to reach its server. Router replacement does not necessarily change the account issued by the service.

Work through the steps

  1. Open Network & Internet on the TV.
  2. Choose the new network and enter its password privately.
  3. Confirm another online app can connect.
  4. Reopen the player and retry the existing account.

What to avoid

Keep the Wi-Fi password separate from the player password. Avoid resetting the service account until basic network access has been restored.

Know what changed

Another online app and the player should both reach their services. If general internet works but the player alone fails, record the specific app error rather than repeating Wi-Fi setup.
