Inspect the active audio destination before changing playback settings. An iPhone may still be connected to headphones, a car or another Bluetooth output even while the video remains on the phone's screen.

Why this happens
The video display and sound destination can be different. A silent phone speaker may simply mean audio is routed elsewhere.
Work through the steps
- Check the player and iPhone volume.
- Open the audio-output selector during playback.
- Choose the intended speaker or headphones.
- Disconnect an unwanted Bluetooth output and replay the same programme.
What to avoid
Keep volume modest when switching from headphones to speakers. Do not erase paired devices until ordinary output selection has been tested.
Know what changed
The same programme should be audible on the chosen output. If all other apps play correctly there, check the player's available audio track and app behavior.
