iPhone player works on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data

Practical steps, clear explanations and a useful place to start.

Check whether mobile data is enabled for the affected app. Then compare the same programme using Wi-Fi and cellular data. A working Wi-Fi session establishes that the app can play that source under at least one connection.

Why this happens

iPhone can restrict cellular access for individual apps. Mobile coverage and data-plan limits can also differ from the Wi-Fi connection.

Work through the steps

  1. Open iPhone cellular-data settings.
  2. Check the affected app's cellular permission.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi briefly and test one known working programme.
  4. Restore Wi-Fi and compare the same programme.

What to avoid

Consider your mobile data allowance before streaming. Do not repeatedly change a working account password because one network fails.

Know what changed

If playback returns after permission is enabled, the restriction was relevant. If it still fails only on cellular, record the carrier connection and exact error privately.
