A Linux terminal command can expose a private playlist URL

Practical steps, clear explanations and a useful place to start.

Treat a credential-bearing playlist URL like a password. Prefer the player's private account-entry interface when available, and redact URLs from copied commands, screenshots and diagnostic logs before sharing them.

Why this happens

Shell history and process listings can reveal command arguments. A URL that looks like ordinary text may contain a username and password.

Work through the steps

  1. Check whether the issued URL embeds account details.
  2. Use the player's supported private input fields.
  3. Inspect any support log for full URLs before sharing.
  4. Ask support for a secure recovery route if credentials were exposed.

What to avoid

Do not paste a real private playlist into a public issue, command example or online checker. Changing a local app setting does not revoke leaked credentials.

Know what changed

A shared report should retain error context while removing secrets. If a credential was published, recovery should be handled through the service's private account process.
