Mac player treats a playlist URL as a local file

Practical steps, clear explanations and a useful place to start.

Choose the player's URL or network-playlist option for an issued internet playlist. A local-file chooser expects a file on the Mac, while a URL field expects an address; pasting into the wrong workflow can fail before authentication.

Why this happens

Local filesystem paths and network playlist addresses are different inputs. A downloaded webpage is not automatically a valid saved playlist.

Work through the steps

  1. Read the player's account-addition options.
  2. Identify whether the issued setup is a URL or a real local playlist file.
  3. Choose the matching import method.
  4. Enter the exact value and note the resulting message.

What to avoid

Private playlist URLs may contain passwords. Do not publish them or download them through an unrelated online converter.

Know what changed

The correct import route should load the intended playlist or produce an informative account error. Record the selected route without exposing the private URL.
