Confirm that both PC and receiver are on the same local network and that the player supports the intended casting method. Web access can work while local discovery is blocked by guest isolation, a VPN or network filtering.

Why this happens
Internet connectivity and device-to-device discovery are different. A Cast receiver and an AirPlay receiver also expect different protocols.
Work through the steps
- Check the receiver's supported casting protocol.
- Connect the PC and receiver to the same normal local network.
- Review active VPN and security settings without disabling protection broadly.
- Test discovery using a known supported application.
What to avoid
Do not open unsolicited inbound ports or download a discovery repair utility. Follow the receiver and security software's documented permissions.
Know what changed
If another supported app finds the receiver, focus on the player's capability. If none can, investigate the local network and receiver before changing the streaming account.
