Installation and app source

On Ubuntu, App Center can install supported packages. Confirm the source and distribution version rather than assuming every Linux package is interchangeable.

Ubuntu menu paths are not universal Linux paths. No native HotPlayer Linux edition was independently verified.

Enter your own account

Use keyboard and mouse. Keep live playlist credentials out of shell command history.

Choose the login mode the player actually supports. Enter the server, username and password in their respective fields, or use the private playlist URL if that is what the app requests. A player licence remains separate from the source account.

Network and everyday playback

Inspect the active connection through the desktop network settings. Interfaces vary between distributions and network managers.

Use desktop display settings for the monitor and the player for aspect ratio. Hardware decoding depends on driver, GPU, codec and build.

Choose the intended system output and application volume. Ubuntu documents separate app-volume and speaker/headphone settings.

Maintenance without losing your setup

Close and reopen the player. Save work before restarting the desktop session or computer.

Use the update tool matching the installed package format. Snap, Debian and other publisher builds can have separate update paths.

Follow player-specific cache instructions. Deleting arbitrary configuration directories may remove settings without fixing playback.

If the problem remains

Record the device model, operating system, app name and version, exact error and local time of the failure. Say whether another programme works in the same app. That comparison helps distinguish an individual source problem from a general device or account fault.
