The 2.4 GHz band is one frequency range used by Wi-Fi equipment. Its practical reach and behaviour depend on the environment, devices and network configuration. It often encounters many neighbouring or non-Wi-Fi signals, while its available capacity differs from other supported bands. The band name is not a guaranteed speed or coverage specification.

A practical example
A television farther from the router may retain a usable 2.4 GHz connection where another band weakens. In a crowded building, however, interference can reduce its practical performance, so comparing actual playback and connection measurements is more useful than choosing by band name alone.
A common misunderstanding
Do not assume that the band with the stronger displayed signal always delivers the best sustained throughput. Signal quality, interference and device support all affect the result.
