A channel group is an organisational category used to collect related entries in a playlist or player interface. Groups can reflect language, region, subject or a user's own choices. Their names are not reliable technical specifications, and different players can display the same source organisation in different ways on screen.

A practical example
A viewer may keep news and sports in separate groups, then create a shorter favourites list for everyday use. The source can update its categories without changing the viewer's actual subscription term or the capabilities of the television itself.
A common misunderstanding
A group called 4K or a country name is not proof that every entry has that resolution or regional source. Inspect programme details and actual playback separately.
