Activation is the step that makes an account, licence or other entitlement ready for use under the relevant system's rules. Different products can have independent activation processes. Activating a player application does not automatically activate a content subscription, and paying for a subscription does not necessarily complete a separate player's registration or licence requirements.

A practical example
A television can open an activated player but still need valid service details before its channel list loads. Conversely, a service account can be ready while a separate player continues showing its own activation message or licence-related restriction on screen.
A common misunderstanding
Keep the exact activation message and issuing system clear when asking for help. Avoid paying an unrelated party simply because a similarly named app or website uses the same word.
