A black screen is a visible symptom with several possible causes, including source video, decoding, selected input or the display connection. Sound and interface behaviour provide useful clues. A black picture is not enough on its own to establish whether the application has failed, a channel is unavailable or the television cannot display the received format.

A practical example
If player menus remain visible and sound continues, the investigation can focus on the video path for that source. If even the device's home screen disappears, the television input, cable or output arrangement deserves separate attention first.
A common misunderstanding
Avoid assuming that a dark scene or an audio-only source is a broken video stream. Compare another known source and the device interface before changing account or network details.
