HDMI is a digital interface used to carry video, audio and related signalling between compatible devices. The available features depend on the equipment, ports, cable and negotiated mode throughout the chain. A streaming box's internet connection and its HDMI connection perform different jobs, and either side can cause a viewing problem independently.

A practical example
A box can load menus and receive a programme correctly while a damaged or unsuitable connection to the television causes dropouts. Trying a supported cable or input helps examine that local display path without changing account information or network settings.
A common misunderstanding
A cable's appearance does not reliably describe every supported feature. Match the actual equipment and desired output mode, and avoid assuming that all ports on one television offer identical capabilities.
