Surround sound uses multiple audio channels or a supported rendering arrangement to create spatial information around the listener. The programme track, decoding path and speaker equipment all influence the result. A service category or device logo alone does not establish that every programme supplies surround audio or that the household setup reproduces it correctly.

A practical example
A receiver may report a multichannel input while a television connected another way receives stereo from the same source. The different result can come from the selected track, app output setting or connection capabilities rather than a subscription difference.
A common misunderstanding
A large speaker system cannot create the original missing channels of a stereo recording. Processing can alter presentation, but it should not be confused with receiving the programme's genuine multichannel track.
